This evaluation
for the 21st Century Community Schoolhouse is to describe the initial
implementation of a newly established charter school in Salem, Oregon and to
determine the student and community outcomes for this charter school. The
project employs both quantitative and qualitative approaches to data
collection and analysis. Formative aspects of the evaluation will center on
the initial implementation efforts and progress of the school toward its
objectives over its first year. Summative aspects will center on student
achievement on state assessments and on other, more general, anticipated
outcomes relating to student attendance and behavior.
