After reading the The Myth of the Melting Pot series from the Washington Post, participating in class discussions and reviewing information related to your assigned immigrant theme or experience, complete the following: 

Write a complete essay on the following topic: 

What it means to be an American 

Make sure your essay has a clear thesis statement and includes strong supporting examples that reflect your assigned immigrant theme or experience!  You must write a minimum five-paragraph essay that is 3-4 pages in length.  Font size must be 12 pt. and spacing at 1.5.
