After reading the The
Myth of the Melting Pot series from the Washington Post, participating in class discussions and reviewing
information related to your assigned immigrant theme or experience, complete the
following:
1)
Choose any ONE of the following statements and between the two team
members, prepare a persuasive 3-5 minute speech FOR and AGAINST the statement:

“The United States should allow any person to
immigrate into this country without regard to national origin, social
class, race, religion, health status or political belief”
- or –
|

| “Children
of illegal immigrants have the same right to an education as all U.S.
citizens”

2)
Your speech must reflect your assigned immigrant theme or experience and
that you support your opinion with facts from the readings and/or other
resources.
3)
Speeches will be scheduled on the last day of the project.
