Write a Song
(1 person per
group)
After reading The Myth of the Melting Pot
series from the Washington Post and participating in class discussions,
complete the following:
Songs in any country are written for a variety of reasons:
to tell a story; to celebrate and express happiness; to express sorrow,
pain, grief, or loss.
- Write
a song that reflects the times, the story, the experiences, or the emotions
of those who emigrated from your country of origin to America.
- After
composing the song, write a brief introduction to the song, which allows the
reader or listener to understand the historical background, and influences,
which inspire the writing of the song.
3. For extra credit, you may want to write music to accompany
the lyrics and then perform
the song at the Celebration.
