Adventure, Challenge and Discovery
Goldstein & Kellar
My
Life…
A journey through
adventure, discovery and challenge…
“I'm not sure if Americans have heard of him. He lost
his leg to cancer when he was a teenager. While going through "kemo"
he was hurt by the amount of suffering in the cancer ward of his hospital and
decided that "somewhere the hurting must stop". He decided to run
across Canada to raise funds for Cancer research here in Canada. Halfway across,
outside Thunder Bay Ontario, cancer spread to his lungs ... a few months later
he died. He lifted a nation through his courage and tenacity and to this day,
the first weekend in September is the Terry Fox run. There is a mountain named
after him in the Canadian Rockies a huge memorial to him outside Thunder Bay.
His run across Canada was the "Marathon of Hope" and enclosed is a
famous image of him running into the evening. Keep in mind he did 28-30 miles
per day on one leg and artificial leg.” Andy…British Colombia, Canada
