Brave
New You
The
21st Century Community Schoolhouse
Final
Integrated Performance Task
Winter Term, 2001
To the Project
Life is an adventurous journey filled with new discoveries.
As we look at our world and our place in it, man has acquired knowledge about
himself and his world that has led to progress, as well as challenge.
The Brave New You project
provides you with the opportunity to discover yourself as an individual and in
relationship to those around you. Brave New You will serve as
the Winter Term integrated school-wide project and will allow you:
q
to determine who we are
individually through our family's genetic trait heritage and determine what
percentage chance we had of becoming who we are;
q
to discover how linear
relationships apply to themselves and society by creating an experiment
involving measurement, collection and graphing of data;
q
to trace our family
relationships and traits genetically through a family tree, describing those
relationships and traits in Spanish;
q
to learn about, and share lessons, that address the struggle to be
treated fairly as an individual and secure the right to full equal protection
under the laws;
q
to interview a community member of Spanish (Hispanic) decent in
order to discover how individuals overcome societal barriers by setting and
pursuing lifelong goals; and
q
to develop and produce a
quality children's book centered around advocacy for those facing disabilities,
disease, conflict, communication challenges, or grief and to develop original
and detailed characters in their writing.
Good Luck!
