Standards for Behavior and Academic Effort 


To ensure a safe, positive learning environment, all students, staff and teachers involved with The Community Schoolhouse are required to abide by the following expectation:

 I.      SHOW RESPECT TO ALL PEOPLE AND PROPERTY.

a.      Speak politely and appropriately

b.      Respect people’s privacy, personal property and personal space

c.       Comments or put-downs which refer to a person’s race, religion, ethnic background, culture, age or sexual orientation will not be tolerated

d.      Horseplay, fighting or touching of other students is inappropriate

                  II.      BE ON TIME AND PREPARED FOR CLASS.

a.       Attend school daily and be on time for class

b.      Have needed materials when entering class

c.       Contribute positively to group, individual and/or class activities and lessons

               I            III.   ACADEMIC HONESTY.

a.       Complete daily and weekly assignments

b.      Use class time to complete coursework

c.       Work which you receive credit for must be your own work.  Prior to completing assignments in a group or with a peer, obtain permission from the teacher

d.      Work which is copied and/or not the student’s original work will not be accepted and a failing grade will be issued

e.       If you are not clear on direction(s) given to you, or you do not understand an assignment, it becomes the student’s responsibility to seek additional support from the staff

f.        Work towards and meet goals outlined in the student’s education plan

                           IV.  CREATE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT.

a.       Follow the Salem-Keizer Zero-Tolerance policy of no drugs, no weapons, and no threats or harassment

b.      Work towards creating a community of students, staff, and teachers where education and individuals are important and valued.
