Reflections |
Sights and Sounds of the Sixties
Americans in the 1960’s were both united and divided by the challenges and
tragedies of the time. As we prepare to study the 1960’s, write reflections
based on the following prompts:
- As a response to anti-American protest both in and outside the United
States, Johnny Cash wrote the songs, Ragged Old Flag and The Song of
the Patriot. The songs make me think about………..
- The news bulletin of the assassination of President Kennedy made me think
about…..
- The sights, sounds and words spoken during Martin Luther King’s March
on Washington made me think about…..
- Jimi Hendrix’s rendition of the Star Spangled Banner played at the
Woodstock festival made me feel…..
- Based on what you have heard and seen today, which situation(s) do you
think most united Americans? Which situations most divided them? Explain your
answers.
